Jailbreaking 1.1.4 iTouch on Windows in 1 Simple Step!
Ok. It simply doesn’t get any easier than this. I’ve gone through all the backflips (you can read about them on my blog) and have downgraded, upgraded, sidegraded and jailbroken iTouches in just about every way possible on Windows. I’ve read about the ZiPhone jailbreak and have periodically checked the status of that but on previous visits, it looked like it was a work in progress for Windows anyway. So, I tried it tonight…and it worked so quickly I wasn’t even sure it was jailbroken, but sure enough, the Installer icon is on my home page ready for me to add any apps that I might want. So here’s what you need to do…
The one simple step is running the ZiPhone software. Make sure your iTouch is restored to a non-jailbroken state with the latest version of the firmware (1.1.4). Also, make sure your iTunes software is up to date. Connect your iTouch and make sure iTunes recognizes it. If it does not, then reinstall iTunes and do whatever else you have to do to make sure your iTouch is visible to your computer. Close iTunes but leave your iTouch connected to your computer. Now, go to http://www.ziphone.org/ and click on the “Click here to download Ziphone” link. Then download the Windows version of the ZiPhone software. This is a phone named ZiPhoneWin-3.0.exe. Run this file and you will get a directory full of files similar to the following.
Now double-click on the file named “JAILBREAK IPHONE IPOD.bat”. You will see a console window on your computer and your iTouch.
After a moment, your iTouch will reboot and you will see the ZiPhone application appear on your computer screen. Click on the appropriate button to finish the jailbreak.
The whole process takes about a minute. This is the cleanest jailbreak so far. So…my advice to you is to forget everything i’ve said in the past and use the ZiPhone method. Now…i’ve got to go get my daughter’s iTouch to jailbreak that again…1.1.4 here we come!!!

Hey admin…HELPP, i was trying to jail break my ipod touch, on the 1.1.5. i already have the jail break for 1.1.4. I was trying to downgrade it, and i think i screwed it up!! ={ Once i turn it on, i just get the matrix on my screen, but then it just keeps stacking and it says config needed. over and over and over again.. how can i fix this!!!?? thanks in advance!

i tried to jailbreak my itouch using the ziphone program now itunes won’t pick it up and it won’t go to the main screen. after i reset it by holding the two buttons but when i turn it on it goes to a black screen with a bunch of white words and stuff how do i fix it

I have tried this process, but when i was using the ziphone and click on jailbreak. I saw it took too long so i stop the process but now my ipod doesn’t show on itunes. What should i do please help. I have a 8gb itouch with 1.1.4 firmware.

Shani, this method will work on a 1.1.4 iphone but the ipod touch (also called iTouch) is not the same. Regardless, the software works on both and will jailbreak your 1.1.4 iPhone. My recommendation is to research it a little to make sure you are aware of any quirks you may run into with your phone but the ziphone software mentioned above is (based on my research) probably your best and easiest option.

Youtube has problems on different versions of the jailbreak. If you go to the installer there are different youtube patches that are available. First, install all the various sources and then refresh the installer. Then look under “Tweaks” (i think thats right…) and try installing the different Youtube patches. IMPORTANT: install one, restart your iTouch…test Youtube. If it doesn’t work, go to the installer and uninstall the patch first, then restart your itouch, install the next patch (there are only 2 I think…unless more have been published) and restart and test again. If none of the patches work then you may have to consider restoring your iTouch to a non-jailbroken state. I’ve had it working at various points and i’ve also had my iTouch at a point where I simply couldn’t get Youtube working…

i have 1.1.2 itouch i downgraded to 1.1.1 but when i try to jailbreak it from jailbreakme.com nothing happens…can i upgrade 1.1.1 firmwareto 1.1.4 to try jailbreaking it…?>

Thats what I would recommend. Once you’ve upgraded to 1.1.4 just follow this article.

Lunchbox, you need to do a full reset/restore…not sure how you got to the point you are at but your best bet is to start over. Reset your iTouch using this link…

hey. i really need your help.
i downloaded the Ziphone package, followed all the steps correctly,
and all im getting in white writing, then it keeps on saying:

First, you missed something. Let me ask a few questions…what version of your firmware were you using? Second, When you ran ZiPhone what button did you push? Third, did you have the latest version of iTunes installed?
If you were running 1.1.5 firmware ziphone won’t work. If you pressed any other button other than the Jailbreak button (like Jailbreak + Activate)it won’t work.
So the first step is to repair your iTouch…read the following article and post back here. Let me know when you’ve got it repaired.

Kris…probably not. My recommendation? Upgrade to the 2.0 firmware and use the iTunes app store. Unless you want the adventure, then…check your firmware to see what version it is, downgrade to 1.1.4 unless you are already there…then follow the steps in this article.

hey guys so I downgraded my 1.1.5 itouch to version 1.1.4 successfully and got the ziphone app
I jailbroke my itouch and got the installer app
when I go to the installer app and try to install the customize app or any other apps it says package download failed
for some reason
Even though its jailbroken it is not unlocked for read/write access
all I want is the customize app
If anybody knows how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it.

So I jailbroke my 1.1.4… wanted to get the gameboy emulator and tried to up it to 2.1 only to learn that I had to pay. Now I’m stuck at 1.1.5.
What’s the update on the jailbreak for that version?

hi i conncected the ipod and it waited to long so i stopped the process, when i restarted the ipod it saud something about BSD root:md0,ajor 2, minor 0 everytime i turn it on says this it also said something about the configuaration PLEASE HELP! HI admin! So i jailbroke my itouch 1.1.5 version tonight and nothing will install for me it pulls up a message that says
Error:
Package download failed!
i have tried like 1000 of these installers and NONE work!
what is going on…should i restore my itouch.
also- maybe you could help. I know that there are programs through computer to computer where if one person has a webcam they can talk to the other person and they can see them even if they do not have one- such as through meebo.com and such.
Is there any program that my friend can get on her itouch so that she can see me as we chat even if i can’t see or hear her? i am on a macbook by the way.

What you describe tells me that you don’t have an active internet connection. Go back to settings and make sure you have a live wireless connection and test it with Safari before you go to the installer.
Regarding the webcam software…i’m not too familiar with this…perhaps some of the other visitors can comment on this?

hmmm…i dont’ know then because i am able to get into safari and also onto the Itouch AOL icon that i have- its just the installer that won’t work….any other suggestions?

Unfortunately I don’t…i haven’t jailbroke 1.1.5 enough to get it to work reliably…have you considered upgrading to 2.x? With the free apps available now, its a pretty good alternative to jailbreaking…?

ok I am a novice here and not entirely sure what jailbreak means. I just bought a 2nd hand itouch and my itunes is asking me for a password (which I dont have) to synch my itouch to my itunes. Will this jailbreak software help?

i did what you said and its taking forever and nothing really is happeniong. i think maybe my itouch might be broken now? and i followed all the directions perfectly. its not connecting to my computer and now im scared that its broken, im gonna lose all the songs and movies that i have, and the big problem is i just got it and i dont have money to buy a new one. whats happening? its taking wayyyyyy more that a minute

did you just say latest itunes software… are you sure the latest version will work….
if so, then my only problem is to downgrade my itouch to 1.1.4 which a tried more than a couple of times but failed!

And thats it ! Cannot access I toch or anything.

Using ZipPhone GUI v3 managed installed installation program on my itouch 1.1.4. But it was not installing any package. Then I choose “Jailbreak + active option” but it failed to resolve the problem and now my itouch is in error mode and giving me following errors:
